Edmonton, Alberta | August 9-20, 2022

The 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship took place from August 9-20, 2022 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. 

The U.S. competed in Group B alongside Austria, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland. Canada, Czechia, Finland, Latvia and Slovakia make up Group A.

The U.S. went undefeated in the preliminary round before falling, 4-2, to Czechia in the quarterfinals to finish fifth.

Originally, the tournament was scheduled for Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta, from Dec. 26- Jan. 5, 2022. On Dec. 29, the IIHF Council decided that, due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship would be cancelled to ensure the health and safety of all participants. Read the full IIHF statement here

To date, the U.S. National Junior Team has claimed 13 medals, including five gold (2021, 2017, 2013, 2010, 2004), two silver (2019, 1997) and six bronze medals (2018, 2016, 2011, 2007, 1992, 1986).
